Volunteer

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”

Respite

A Respite is an “Angel of Relief” for foster parents.  Foster parents may need assistance for various reasons; an emergency, a weekend getaway, a night out, a vacation, or simply, they can’t be in two places at one time!  They are committed to love and nurture the children in their care, but like all parents, they too, need “babysitters.”  Respites can be individuals, a couple, friends, relatives, grandparents, etc.  and we will work with you to secure the necessary and required training to become a respite.

Please complete the form below and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact info@gearyfosterfoundations.com or call Susie Holamon at 325-338-9742. God Bless You.

Foster Parents

At Geary Foster Foundations, we believe “every child deserves a safe home.”  If you have the desire to change the life of a child, then we would love to have you be part of our “community of care.”

Being a foster parent at Geary Foster Foundations should be considered a “calling” to serve children, to be part of the big picture of the eventual eight homes on 12 acres with a healthy indoor and outdoor environment, helping 4 to 6 children in each of our homes. Our mission is to increase the success of our parents, who foster with many homes in one centralized location that benefits from our volunteers, who will be mentors, respites, and support in our programs. You will be neighbors with those who understand the needs of children who have been removed from their homes due to no fault of their own. We will provide the houses and the facilities, rent-free, and while this is a valuable benefit, it should not be motivation for fostering.

Fostering is a significant time commitment for the entire family.  Parents must be able to fulfill their commitment to God, the family (including the foster children), themselves, their job, and their church.  All children demand physical and emotional energy as well as time.

We want our parents to treat these children as their own.  It does not require a life- long dedication, but we would like a minimum of a year commitment so that fostering efforts result in rehabilitated lives for children.

If you have a “calling” and want to know more about changing lives, we would love to visit with you.  Please contact: Susie Holamon, 325-338-9742 or email me: info@gearyfosterfoundations.com

Start Your Journey

Through our partnership with the foster parents and multiple child placement agencies, we are able to provide homes for families in a community of support while the child placement agency serves the children entering foster care by recruiting, training, licensing and supporting foster families as they provide therapeutic services from a Christian worldview. Together, our ultimate goal is to transition these children back into a healthy environment with their biological families. Or, if that is not possible, provide a safe, nurturing home from which they can launch into a successful adulthood.

In the State of Texas, there are over 16,000 children in foster care.  These children had been removed from their homes due to no fault of their own.  Many of these children were abused or neglected and need an act of kindness from personal attention, quality time, and most importantly, loving care.

How to become a Foster Parent/ Foster Family with Geary Foster Foundations, where we believe “EVERY CHILD DESERVES A SAFE HOME.”

Requirements: Geary Foster Foundations is not a foster care agency and all families who live at Geary Foster Foundations will need to be licensed as a foster parent through a child placement agency. You must be at least 21 years of age, able to pass criminal background and reference checks, and attend required training sessions necessary for foster licensing.
